Hotline Services: A staff member or trained volunteer provides immediate response 24 hours per day 7 days per week to crisis calls. This service provides confidential crisis telephone counseling. Turning Point has 2 incoming lines for Crisis Calls. These lines cannot be used to call out. If these two lines are busy the line rolls over to the other 3 office lines.

Transportation: In emergency situations transportation is coordinated with Monroe Police Department and the Union County Sheriff's Department
Safe Shelter: Safe shelter is provided to victims of domestic violence and their children 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Turning Point has a written Intake Policy. This policy includes procedures for ensuring safety for victims with mental or physical health problems, male children, and substance abuse problems. In the shelter 3 nutritious meals a day are provided. The average daily occupancy is 24.
Women’s Counseling: Individual and group counseling is provided by the Women’s Counselor for victims of domestic violence. Women residing in the shelter attend counseling bi-weekly. Functional Living: A Case Planner develops a “Functional Living” plan with each shelter resident, which addresses such needs as housing, employment, transportation, and health care. Progress with this plan is reviewed bi-weekly by a staff member or volunteer. In addition, shelter residents participate in a “Life Skills” educational program that addresses such areas as domestic violence education, HIV education, housekeeping, and money management. Victim’s Advocacy: Turning Point’s victim’s advocate and volunteers are available to educate victims of domestic violence concerning their legal rights and options, as well as to accompany women to court. Women residing in the shelter meet with the Legal Advocate a minimum of one time during their stay at Turning Point. It is not necessary to be staying in the shelter to receive legal advocacy. Early Childhood Program: Provides assessment and referral services for developmental delays, teaches stimulation activities to mothers, provides parenting classes, and provides the HERO program for children ages 3 to 5 years. For more information, contact Noemi Perkins at

Temporary Day Care: Temporary Day Care is available to Turning Point shelter residents, while they establish a more permanent Day Care plan. While a mother is meeting with a counselor, completing job applications, and/or looking for housing, a child may be cared for in the day care.
Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program: The Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program addresses the dynamics of teen dating violence. This program is provided in the shelter, in the schools, and in the faith community.

Transitional Housing: A woman who has successfully completed the shelter program may be eligible to reside at Cassie’s Place, Turning Point’s transitional house, for up to six months. Women residing at Cassie’s Place pay rent and continue to receive Turning Point services in a supervised, yet less structured, environment.
